Congratulations to our Client of the Month in Somerville: Colleen Kearns!

  1. What is your hometown?

    Oak Park, IL

  2. What brought you to DPT?

My friend Erika joined DPT and would often flex her new muscles, saying how amazing and inclusive the culture of the gym was. I had recently started a weight loss journey and wanted to build in a consistent workout schedule, so I gave the DPT 6 week challenge a shot!

  3. How long have you been training with us?

    2 years in July!

  4. What do you do in the “real world?” (job, family, pets, etc)

I recently moved from Somerville to Dorchester, but still trek it to Dpt. I am a School Social Worker/Administrator for a Boston Public Schools K-8 school. I love coming to the gym after a stressful day at work and recapping the highlights, never a dull moment. My family lives in Chicago and I visit a few times a year. I love to spin with my friends whenever I can.

  5. What is one fun fact that most people don’t know about you?

I LOVE traveling and have recently gone to Italy, Alaska, Africa, and next stop, Australia for Christmas 2019.

  6. What is your favorite exercise and why?

I love the trap bar deadlift and front squats because they remind me l am stronger than I realize.

  7. What is your biggest gym achievement so far?

Completing the Tough Mudder and making the leadership board for the Women’s front squat! Never thought I would see the day.

  8. What inspires and motivates you?

I am motivated by the coaches and Dpt members in my classes that push me to add more weight, even if that means they sneak it on without me knowing. I am inspired by each Dpt member’s transformation, both physically and emotionally, after they have committed to investing in themselves…it’s contagious!

  9. What would you say to someone who is thinking about joining or who has just joined DPT?

Take the risk of joining a new gym filled with the most supportive people of all ages, shapes, and sizes…you will not regret it! The structure, community, and motivation that Dpt provides is unlike any gym I’ve ever belonged to.
