Durbrow Performance December Client of the Month: Nikla Crane

  1. What is your hometown?

Curepipe, Mauritius (small Indian Ocean island off east coast of Madagascar, where the Dodo bird originated from)

2. What brought you to DPT?

John Pham, which is also a verb. Need I say more?

3. How long have you been training with us?

2 and a half years. The incidence of homicides in Cambridge has dropped since then.

4. What do you do in “the real world” (job, family)?

Scientist, editor, twin mom, owned by 2 cats, short story writer, runner, sailor, Belgian beer enthusiast and keeping wineries in business

5. What is one fun fact that most people don’t know about you?

I can make highly realistic cat sounds? ( maybe the cat is out of the bag on that one!!!)

Runner ups would be judging plane aerobatics sequences (a safer version of air shows) according to the International Aerobatics club standards, having a summer job in high school castrating male prawns  (not much fun for the prawns), being part Russian in spirit or having a soft spot for Irish men
6. What is your favorite exercise?
Tough one. Everyone would expect me to say the plank. I fell in love with DPT my first workout because of the valslide slides (? Can’t remember exact name). I like TRXes. And, just for Emily, my favorite kettlebell exercise is putting it back at the end of the workout. I also believe in stretching after a workout!
7. What is your biggest gym achievement so far?
Carrying my kids on my shoulders, pull-ups, 8 min plank(!), harassing Billy…
8. What inspires you and motivates you?
A bit corny but my kids do, especially Ollie. I love how he moves and aim to emulate the fluidity of his movements; it has helped a lot with my running form. Oh, and Olivia Pope! 🙂
9. What would you say to someone who has just joined or is thinking about joining DPT?
Keep coming; that’s half the battle. Speak up; ask questions. More importantly, ask to see pictures of “Whiskey”
