Congratulations to our September 2014 Client of the Month, Jared Graves.

Check out Jared’s journey and success story here and be sure to give him a high five and congratulate him the next time you see him!

Hometown:
A small town called Baldwinville in Central MA.

What brought you to DP?
As I started becoming more interested in fitness I realized that just running on the treadmill wasn’t going to give me the results I wanted. Many of the people I work with had been going to DPT for a while and encouraged me to give it a try. I wasn’t sure about group training but once I became familiar with the trainers and clients I really started to enjoy it.

How long have you been training?
I’ve been training at DPT for a little over a year now.

What do you do in the real world (outside of the gym, your job, hobbies, etc)?
I try to incorporate different physical activities into my free time whenever I can – running, hiking, swimming etc. I really enjoy experimental music, film and photography. I enjoy making all sorts of things with my hands.

What is something we might not know about you?
I have a large collection of antique Japanese textiles.

What’s your favorite exercise?
Turkish get-up

What’s your greatest gym achievement so far?
My first unassisted chin-up made me feel proud. More recently – I’m excited about the PRs I’ve made during the advanced strength class.

What motivates or inspires you?
I like to read and watch fitness related books and videos. I can see how this could overwhelm or bore some people but I find it interesting and motivating. It helps me understand that it isn’t just chance and that it does take work and dedication.

What is a short term goal and a long term goal for you?
My short term goal at the moment is to hike one of the 4000 footers in NH – before winter! A longer term goal of mine that I’m working on is watching my nutrition and making sure that the food I eat supports my goals at the gym.

What would be your advice for a new client at DP?
Focus on the exercises, ask questions, and know that the work that you do at the gym will quickly take your mind off any nerves or stress you may have. Make an effort to get to know the trainers and clients more personally. It will make attending classes more enjoyable and give you something to look forward to on the days you are feeling unmotivated.
