Durbrow Performance Training November Client of the Month: Lisa Cantagallo

Congratulations to our November Client of the Month, Lisa Cantagallo!

Lisa has been training with the DP family for almost 5 years and she’s one of those people that just brings it every single session. Her focus and intensity has been especially evident over the last few months and that made her an obvious choice for our Client of the Month award.

1. What is your hometown?

South Kingstown, RI (URI Alum, whoot whoot!)

2. What brought you to Durbrow Performance?

Two words…Jane Yi

3. How long have you been training with DP?

5 years (and two kids ago), I started with you when you were at the Red Line Gym

4. What do you do in the “real world?”

I work at Novartis in early oncology development. Clinical operations group to be exact. I’m also a mom to two amazing girls (Evie 3 and Alex 1). My husband Eli and I live 2 minutes from the gym.

5. What is one thing most people wouldn’t know about you?

My guilty pleasure when I get stressed out is to watch the storm tracking doppler radar on the weather channel. Nothing relaxes me more than tracking a nice tropical depression in the mid-atlantic. Also, I have an iPod playlist that would make any middle-age dad or dentist office proud. I have a soft spot in my heart for Hall and Oates and Lionel Richie (“hello…is it me your looking for…?” yes Lionel it is, yes it is….)

6. What is your favorite exercise?

I do tend to like the basics, chest press, push ups, squats. I feel like I may be allergic to cardio, but I’m still waiting for the official medical diagnosis.

7. What is your greatest gym achievement so far?

Honestly, it is the fact that I make it to the gym at least 3 times a week. With a full time job, travel and 2 kids, this is an amazing accomplishment for me. (shout out to all the other parents, I know you can appreciate this one!)

8. What motivates and inspires you?

Everyone at Durbrow that I work out with. I get so pumped when i watch other people achieve personal bests. Motivation is contagious and when I see others killing it at the gym, it pushes me a little harder that day!

9. What are your short term and long term goals?

Unassisted chin-up. I want this one bad. Also, I just signed up for nutrition class. I am hoping that Emily can teach me how to stop eating like my toddlers.

10. What would you say to someone who is just starting out at DP?

It’s an amazing family. You didn’t just join a gym, but you joined a supportive group of professionals and friends who only want to see you acheive your personal best. It’s like joining a warm fluffy cloud of fitness.
    For me, getting to the gym for the workout is the hardest part, once i am there the motivation and team work take over and the workout is done.
