Have a Beer (from a personal trainer)

Kind of weird for a personal trainer to be telling you to have a beer.

Here’s the thing. So many people obsess about what they can’t have.

The goal of being healthy, working out and nourishing your body with healthy food is so that you can be happier, have more energy, look good, feel good and have a great life.
What’s the point in going through your day, week, month or year constantly thinking about calories, food, I can have this but I can’t have that.
It’s exhausting.
You have to find a balance.
I always talk about creating a lifestyle. When you have the lifestyle, that’s just WHAT you do.
You don’t have to be pissed off because you can’t go out to dinner with your friends.
You CAN go. Your lifestyle just means that you don’t stuff your face with the bread at the table just because it’s there.
You order a steak, a salad and a veggie.
That’s just your lifestyle.
Do you have a beer or a glass of red wine?
Sure.
If you’re doing all the big things right- eating protein, veggies, healthy fats, training with weights and doing interval training, getting 8 hours of sleep and not indulging on sugar, then YES you can have a beer once and a while.
You can enjoy a piece of cake on your birthday or some wings at the Super Bowl party.
That’s your lifestyle.
It’s not a diet.
It’s a nice flow. It’s not perfect but you need to look at the big picture.
I’m not telling you to slack off.
I’m telling you to enjoy the freakin’ ride. Don’t be pissed off that you can’t have dessert 4 times a week.
You can have it. You just won’t be lean, so don’t complain about that.
What lifestyle do you want?
