Congratulations to our Client of the Month in Manchester: Wendy!

1. What is your hometown? I grew up in Hudson, NH and live in Londonderry currently.

2. What brought you to DPT? I was doing the 21 Day Fix workouts at home for a good 5 months and got so bored of doing the same thing over and over.  I was looking into a couple bootcamps in the area but none of them seem to fit my schedule, when I stumbled on an ad on Facebook for a challenge at DPT and thought I’d reach out and see what it was all about.  I’ve never looked back.

3. How long have you been at DPT? I started in May 2019, I think.  So a year and a half.

4. What do you do in the real world? In the real world I’m a staff accountant by trade (boring!), but living a life of leisure is my true calling.  I have two kids, a twenty year old son who couldn’t be anymore opposite me and a 13 year old daughter who couldn’t be anymore like me (I’m scared of her). I do have a savage cat too.  He wants to be fed daily though, so he’s kind of a nuisance more than anything.

5. What is one fun fact that most people don’t know about you? I am the least athletic person you’ll ever meet.  I can trip over air (and have) and walk into well established walls.  I wasn’t even the last kid picked on the ball field, instead they’d just end the game so as not to have me play.  But I might be the most competitive person you’ll ever meet in your life.  I’d saw my own leg off to win a one legged race.

6. Favorite exercise: Everyone knows my favorite exercise is glute bridges of any sort, aka JLo booty makers, aka Beach Booty makers, aka Boat Booty makers.

7. Biggest gym achievement: My biggest gym achievement is honestly the change in mindset.  When I first started, my goal was to lose weight and be skinny.  Over time, as I started developing muscles and my body got more toned, I realized being skinny was never the goal.  I didn’t know it back then but what I really wanted was to “look” and feel fit, toned, and sexy.  Now I view working out and eating healthy as a way to stay healthy, feel good and live without limitations.  Looking sexier is an added bonus.

8. What inspires and motivates you? My daughter is a big part of my motivation and inspiration.  She’s looking up to me and always watching every move I make.  She’s in middle school now, right in the thick of some of the hardest times girls face in respect to self-esteem and body image.  I want to model good, healthy, life habits for her that she can carry into her adult life.  And when I tell her to “boss up,” I want that to come from someone who is actually doing it.

9. What would you say to someone who is thinking about joining or who has just joined DPT? If you’re on the fence about joining DPT, DO IT!  The support from the other members and coaches is second to none.  The workouts are ALWAYS challenging and fun, pushing you out of your comfort zone to achieve things you maybe never thought you could.  On top of that, the dedication of the coaches is phenomenal.  They are professional, always on time, always starting and ending class on time, staying on task and present during the workout, never distracted or on their phones, and not only teaching, leading and correcting our form when necessary, but constantly offering new challenges, contests, and fun ways to motivate us to do more in and out of the gym.
