Congratulations to our Client of the Month in Manchester: Amanda John!

  1. What is your hometown? I am from Concord, NH.

  2. What brought you to DPT? I joined DPT with my friend and coworker, Karin.

  3. How long have you been training with us? Since April 2018.

  4. What do you do in the “real world?” (job, family, pets, etc) In the real world, I work as a registered nurse at a family practice. I get to work with patients from all over the world and also with brand new doctors.

  5. What is one fun fact that most people don’t know about you? My fun facts- I have a twin sister, we both own and ride motorcycles.

  6. What is your favorite exercise and why? My favorite exercise is dead lifts with the trap bar. I love that I’m able to lift more weight than I ever thought I could.

  7. What is your biggest gym achievement so far? My greatest achievement is flipping Roxanne. I saw that tire on day one- and I was determined. I can feel the strength in my legs when I’m lifting, then I get to enjoy the smack of accomplishment as “she” falls to the ground.

  8. What inspires and motivates you? There are so many things that inspire me. I’ve never met a group of stronger women. These women are beautiful despite the sweat and the occasional grunting. Also every small amount of progress that I make is motivating. I can do 3 push ups from my toes and I can actually move the Valslides when I do tucks.

Also I’d like to have kids one of these days. Pregnancy comes with significant risks when you are obese and have diabetes. My long term goal is to become healthy enough to have children and get my diabetes under better control.
  9. What would you say to someone who is thinking about joining or who has just joined DPT? For those that are new or thinking about joining- welcome! DPT is a great place to learn, laugh, exercise and dance! The best part is always watching the trainers demonstrate the wrong way versus the right way to do exercises. The wrong way is usually hilariously accurate representation of what many new people do (including me). Watching Erin dance is pretty great too. My advice is to try to have a sense of humor. Exercise by itself isn’t that fun, but laughter makes it a whole lot better. Also…. always poop before getting on the scale 🙂
