Congratulations to our Client of the Month in Somerville: Amy Blackey!

  1. What is your hometown? I grew up in Sanbornton, NH, a small town in the Lakes Region.

  2. What brought you to DPT?  I moved to Somerville about a year before and hadn’t really been working out at all.  I had seen some ads for DPT but was nervous to try out a new gym.  I finally decided to give the 2 week challenge a try.  After only a few workouts, I knew it was a place I wanted to stay at.

  3. How long have you been training with us?  I started with a 2 week challenge in April so 5 months!

  4. What do you do in the “real world?” (job, family, pets, etc)?  In the real world I work as a clinical lab tech for a pediatric genomics company.  I also like to be crafty (I love Pinterest), lately I have been knitting a lot, and enjoy hiking. I have a very friendly black cat named Weasley.

  5. What is one fun fact that most people don’t know about you?  I love dogs but don’t have one yet.  A few times a week I take a walk on my lunch break so I can pass by the dog park and see some puppies.

  6. What is your favorite exercise and why?  I really enjoy trap bar dead lifts or any heavy lifting exercise.  It makes me feel strong and I love being able to increase the weight and know that I am getting stronger.

  7. What is your biggest gym achievement so far?  I think my biggest achievement so far is that I have stuck with it.  I often start a gym routine out strong and my interest and motivation fade so sticking with it for 5 months is an achievement for me!

  8. What inspires and motivates you?  Great coaches and people to work out with!  It seems like everything is just a little bit easier and more fun when you get to do it in a group.  Whenever I am struggling to push myself during a workout it is really inspiring to look around and see a bunch of other people working hard!

  9. What would you say to someone who is thinking about joining or who has just joined DPT?  Just do it!  The accountability and community at DPT is what makes it special.  As someone who was very intimidated to work out in a group, I have never felt out of place at DPT and am so happy I made the decision to try it out!
