Protein Packed Smoothies for Faster Fat Loss

Smoothies and shakes are an awesome way to supplement your nutrition plan. I personally have some sort of smoothie every morning for breakfast. Occasionally I’ll use a smoothie as a meal replacement if I get home late. On Monday nights I play in a co-ed basketball league and I’ll train at the studio until 7pm and then we usually have a game at 7 or 8pm so I don’t really feel like cooking or having a meal after the game. The easiest thing is to throw a bunch of stuff in the Magic Bullet and get a good dose of protein, vitamins, calcium and some carbs.

Here are some of my favorite recipes for shakes and smoothies. Enjoy!

Pistachio Mint Protein Shake

1 scoop Vanilla whey protein
huge handful of spinach
8 ounces unsweetened almond milk
1 tablespoon sugar free pistachio pudding mix (dry)
1-2 drops peppermint extract
1 packed of Stevia (optional)
2-3 ice cubes (optional)

Mix all ingredients in the blender or Magic Bullet, blend and enjoy

Cherry Berry Cacao Ca-Pow!

I got this recipe from my friend Valerie Waters and I adapted it a little bit. Check it out.

1 scoop of chocolate protein powder
8 ounces unsweetened almond milk
handful of frozen cherries
small handful of frozen blackberries
1/2 banana
1 tsp maca powder
1 tblsp cacao pieces or powder
Mix, blend and enjoy

Pre-Workout Mochachino Protein Packed Shake

1 scoop chocolate protein powder
8 ounces unsweetened almond milk
1/2 cup of coffee (chilled)
1 tbsp cacao powder
1-2 packets of Stevia (depending on sweet you like it)
1 tbsp heavy cream

In terms of protein, you can get your whey protein anywhere. I highly recommend Prograde. You can check out the site and see why I like it so much, plus when you order they have a cool option for an auto-ship which automatically sends you a package of it every month. This is awesome if you are like me and you use it every day and you don’t feel like ordering it every few weeks. Or you forget before you actually run out. Totally annoying.

Hope you enjoyed these smoothies, I’ll be back with some more recipes for ya. Until then, eat clean, train hard and smile. Life is too short.
